This first export is the end sequence of our music video. This is a really important part as it acts as the 'twist' of the narrative, and is what the entire music video was building up to. The cut to black at the end suggests the main character will jump off the building without actually showing it. We may add in some performance shots throughout this sequence.
The audio is still linked to each clip in this export, hence why you can hear the clip audio over the music - this is something which I will remove later in the edit.
Export 2 is the opening sequence of the music video. This part features no narrative and starts off by introducing the band and establishing locations. There is no narrative in this part as it is all instrumental so performance shots fitted better. Furthermore, we wanted the narrative to go over the lyrics to show the story is an extension of, and how we interpreted, the lyrics.
The last two scenes (of the band in the living room) will be colour corrected later in the edit, as they have an orange/yellow tone which doesn't match the car park scenes and colour.
Export 3 shows a very important part of the narrative. It shows the couple arguing and establishes why they're arguing so the following narrative makes sense.
We chose to arrange the shots in this way so that the argument scene is placed over the lyric "and you've got thin walls, and I don't wanna fight". This is to show how the music video is an extension of the lyrics, and the narrative is how we interpreted the song and what it was about.
This export shows the moment in the narrative where the couple rob a shop together (as they've been arguing over money). The strobe effect with white flashes is to depict flashbacks, showing what the couple are thinking about as they are about go into the shop. We felt the dips to white helped the scenes look dazed/hazy, and make it more clear to the audience that they were memories.
Export 5 is the first chorus. Here we chose to use some lip syncing shots to help the audience remember and realise that the main character is also the lead singer in the band. In this part you also see the first shots of the couple running and a close up of the money, to show that's what they stole. However, this part come before we even see them rob the shop. This leaves some unanswered questions and mystery until later on in the music video.
We also wanted to place some running scenes here as they lyrics are "I don't wanna run away". We felt this would have impact, reflect on the lyrics, and also look good as the music builds up on the chorus.
Final Digipak
This is our final Digipak. Once all 4 panels were put together we decided that the CD looked too bright and pink compared to the rest. For this reason we changed it to a grey metallic surface instead, to fit with the theme. We also added some smoke into the background of the CD case as there is smoke on the inside panel, and we felt it tied them together nicely.
Overall, I'm really happy with the digipak. I think the panels I look really good together, as there is now a running theme and colours.
I think me and Tanya worked well together to create all four panels and make them all blend together with the same aesthetic and plenty of reference to the music video.
Final Posters
My final poster is on the left, Tanya's on the right. I'm overall pleased with how mine came out and I feel it looks quite professional.
Both posters do a good job of promoting our band, their album and the music video. They also features necessary things you would see on a real life poster - such as social media, website and where to listen.
Finally, I think they matches nicely with the rest of the Digipak and it all goes well together.
